2004-02-20 11:25:00 | At times Mozilla gets really slow, most noticable on PF1, and one other site.....unable to recall at this point. any sugggestions as to what slows it down or how i can get it back to speed, it may have got slower than IE at one point.???? just tried it earlier. i really havent downloaded much at all lately or done any major surfing ( no abnormal stuff i guess) and as far as i know i have cookies enabled. what are other peoples setting like? may need to do a defrag and a delete files etc, i am not overly worried as i do like Mozilla, and hate IE but wondered if i may have inadvertantly changed a setting and slowed things down. XP home, ZA, AVG, (Adaware, spybot i run these 2 weekly or fortnightly) and Mailwasher. other wise nothing unusual. i have not timed a page yet, also it may be the comp, not the browser, could be B..... anything considering this lemon. any helpful input appreciated. beetle

2004-02-20 11:28:00 | Could be the state of the phone lines over recent days. I find f1 runs at various speeds no matter what browser i use.Sometimes snappy, sometimes slower then ut2004 on a celeron. Personally i have found mozila to be faster overall then IE,however i could swear firebird was faster then firefox, but that may be just my imagination.

2004-02-20 11:35:00 | well yes line / phone conections lately may be off. well in saying that when i have tabs open, some are definetely running faster than others. i would have thought all pages would about same speed, is this not so???? PF1 does not time out (have no idea how long it will try to load for) but just keeps telling me loading. while another tab is done almost instantly, racking my brain trying to think what the other site was, but cant remember. i have multiple tabs running and dont normally have a prob, maybe just to impatient. does this make sense??? beetle

2004-02-20 11:38:00 | Yep,makes sence, some pages load faster then others, depending on content and location, and asking a few pages to download at once will quickly overwhelm a 56k connection. I find anymore then a couple tabs refreshing at once will cause noticible lag.

2004-02-20 12:47:00 | Today's Firefox nightly includes numerous checked in string optimizations. If you aren't running tonights nightly, you're missing out! I just built it on my own and runs great. Stress test were about 1.5x to 2x faster than last night's build. I seriously suggest you all check it out. mmoy's builds: forums.mozillazine.org O2 GL G7 SSE2, best if you have a Pentium 4 Lohvarn's builds: forums.mozillazine.org O2 G[7,6,5] [SSE], best if you have an older processor As found in Neowin.net (www.neowin.net)

Fiddle to your hearts content One of the more advance options (which is what prompted me to post this was the option to enable pipelining, as this can improve browser speed. |

2004-02-20 14:13:00 | Think ill try the things they left out. What this browser really needs its an inbuilt fully featured download manager, something along the lines of flashget. The "improvments" they made in that area are worthless.

2004-02-20 19:00:00 | Press F1 access/loading seems to vary quite a lot during the day when trying to access it. Its not the fault of the browser at all. | mark.p (383) | |
