Adj. Stormy, which could apply equally well to weather and/or
politics right now.

It has been a clysmian couple of days, but whether rain,
crocodile tears or porkies gets the nod is up to you.

Adj. Clysmian: Related to or caused by floods or flooding.

Cheers

I resisted the temptation to use mythomania:
The compulsive telling of lies and believing them,
because WFTWE tries to be non-partisan and non-political!:D

216805 2004-02-20 10:56:00 BT, I think your on the money except I would have led off with the secondary theme. People are very forgiving and resourceful but as far as I am concerned there is no forgiving the BS that has been coming from our lord's & master's of either hue in recent times. I don't know whether they think we should be inured to the c**p that they feel they must produce but I'm certainly getting sick of paying for it.

</end rant>

Didn't mean to put a downer on your post, just a wee bit topical, I live on a flat bit of the Hutt valley, no harm here tho ;)

216806 2004-02-20 23:58:00 That's not a downer Murray . I try to make WFTWE as topical as possible to give the words more relevance . I try not to be insensitive about it though, and as apolitical as possible of course . :|

Clysmian is a good example of a topical choice, most people are familiar with cataclysm to describe a violent natural event but wouldn't necessarily recognise the Greek root kluso which means to wash . In broad terms, cata means down or wrongly so a cataclysmic flood is a flood that produces bad effects .

I don't know what a good flood is, but I remember being taught at primary school about the importance of the annual flooding of the Nile to the agriculture of ancient Egypt . This was always contrasted with Mesopotamia, which had to use artificial irrigation for reasons which escape my ailing memory . :8}

Works well too for politicians who are washed away by things done wrongly . Some politicians might be well advised to take lessons from Winston, the Teflon King of NZ politics . :D

216807 2004-02-21 01:05:00 Perhaps it's the antics of the politicians which are causing the gods to cry.

The thunderbolts seem to miss the proper targets. :_|

216809 2004-02-21 04:37:00 Perhaps the gods are also political, they did seem to be often on different sides in the olden days.

My theory is that there is a madness virus sweeping the world, for which there is no known cure, being a prelude to the gods destroying those infected.

The extremes of weather everyone around the world are experiencing is probably a manifestation of their displeasure.
