| 216558 | 2004-02-19 03:00:00 | It is actually a piece of Ferrite. It is used in this case to "short" out high frequencies (RFI), which usually can be induced into the lead. These frequencies could corrupt the data passing through the lead, by making a high into a low (or visa-versa) or overloading the electronic devices at each end of the cable. So it is just a Filter. :) |
