| 217049 | 2004-02-20 23:32:00 | All you need to do is... Press Alt-F2 type xterm click run or just hit Enter type su - <------- this is the bit which logs you in as root su = "supervisor" hit Enter it will prompt you for your root password which you should've set at the time of installing Linux type the root password hit Enter once you've done that you can install the driver's for your modem hope that helps cheers chiefnz |

| 217050 | 2004-02-20 23:32:00 | Or just open up a terminal window and type su then enter, then put in your password. | PoWa (203) | ||
| 217051 | 2004-02-20 23:53:00 | No. It's a Bad Idea to "just open a terminal, type su then enter the password". That would lead to more confusion, because that would login as root, but with a user PATH. So any system commands needed won't be found. :_| su should always be used as su -, so the correct path is used. |

| 217055 | 2004-02-21 06:14:00 | OK, I found a guide on how to install it (I think), but when I look in the cd I couldnt find a file with "Kernel" or "sorce" or "header in the same file name. What do you guys think the Kernel sorce headers file name would be? Remember I got Mandrake 9.2 James Busby |
