217067 2004-02-23 00:55:00 What happens if you search for "source"?

Ive never used Mandrake for longer than 5 minutes, so Im just trying suggestions here.

In Redhat all you need to do is click "Kernel Source Packages" ;-)

Chill.

217068 2004-02-23 02:22:00 You must be using a customised cd if its not on disk 3.

You can download the RPM from any of the mandrake mirrors. eg planetmirror (ftp://public.planetmirror.com.au/pub/mandrake/9.2/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/).

The file is called: kernel-source-2.4.22-10mdk.i586.rpm and is around 40mb.

217069 2004-02-23 03:24:00 The mandrake package manager should find the sources on its CDs. The file will probably be in the "development" group. Graham L (2)
217070 2004-02-23 03:45:00 Just so James Busby doesn't think he is going mad, apparently the downloaded version of 9.2 did not include the kernel source all all - they ran out of room on the 3rd CD so they were omitted.

You can read more here (archives.mandrakelinux.com). A google for missing kernel sources for Mandrake 9.2 CD's also will throw up a lot of links.

I noticed that there is a kernel version 2.6.3 @ http://www.kernel.org. Is that one the lastest or just another kernel for another distribution of linux?

217076 2004-02-23 06:57:00 You need the kernel source which matches your current running kernel . The link that bmason gave you is for a Mandrake packaged RPM of the source for the 2 . 4 . 22-10 version . This should match your current kernel and you can check this by opening a Console Window and entering in uname -r .

The 2 . 6 . 3 kernel on kernel . org is the latest kernel source available . It can be used on any distribution of Linux to compile a kernel with from scratch .

Just download and install the specific Mandrake RPM from that link .
