It's almost like there's a little programme come onto my computer that's cobbling together bits of addresses and sending out spurious email possibly with viruses or such in them. | idg2004 (5300) | ||

Scan your system with one of these free online scanners: Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) Symantec (security.symantec.com). If you don't have any antivirus software, download and install AVG (www.grisoft.com) - it is free but remember to keep it updated. |

| 217545 | 2004-02-23 00:38:00 | If you run up to date virus scanning software, then don't get concerned. Its possible/probable that someone else is infected, and they happen to have your email address in their address book. A virus will be using that as a ficticious "from" address. Viruses that do this do not use your normal email program, so there is no visible record of the emails having been sent. As long as your antivirus software is up to date and working, its unlikely to be you. If you are not running anyantivirus program, or don't update it at least weekly, then of course it could be you... |
