217552 2004-02-22 23:32:00 hi everybody,

i want to purchase TV EXCEL PCI TUNER CARD cause they are dirt cheap at the moment also a HIS Radeon 9200 SE 128 DDR graphics card for the same reason. I have searched the net but can't come up with the answer to do i need the graphics card to use a tv tuner card? (Sorry for being a dodo in advance) could i get away with just the tv tuner card first and get the graphics later or is it recommended? Also does anyone have any of these cards are they good for the price (tv=$70 has the bt878 chip)(graphics = $104) i would be running them on a win xp home SP1 athlon xp 1700 1.4ghz

217554 2004-02-22 23:47:00 Hi purpledot4_1,

As far as I am aware, none of the bt878 chipset cards have vga-output unless they're part of an All-In-One AGP Card.

The price seems very reasonable for the card, and your PC Spec's more than suffice :-)

Hope this helps

217555 2004-02-22 23:57:00 You get what you pay for,the software that comes with the tv card is...uh...lacking.Usable and full of features but not particly nice to use.

The video card is el budget,It depends what its replacing.Tjhe SE signifies it has a slower clockspeed and thru worse performence then the reguler 9200,and the chipset is an old one ati have re-released so to speak.Expect performence to be about that of a g4mx420(Very very bad).

Might be an idea to quote the post of the person your asking, otherwise it isdifficult to say the least figuring out whom your asking.

Onboard will be fine,as long as it suports overlay(and i presume it does, just buy the tv card and have a crack)

I use the winfast tv card.
