218214 2004-02-25 23:21:00 Greetings,

We've had a lot of sites that Customers visit recently that are changing the Homepage to something else that we specifically dont want. Not to mention it brings a flood of popups each time the user opens up IE (Not if they use Firefox - But so far its not default).

Im not sure if its intentional, in fact I highly Doubt it is. Still, the advertising is not quite what we are after.

How do I lock down IE 6 on PC's with varying OS's (Win98 on one, Win2K Pro one two, and WinXP on the rest)?

Im also looking to put a few more restrictions on the users, but that can come at a later date.

Cheers

218215 2004-02-25 23:42:00 With Spybot you can lock the homepage in IE. Under "Immunize"

218217 2004-02-25 23:53:00 Well that's funny coz it is in Ver 1.2. Bit iffy if you have to back a version. Have another look. mark c (247)
218218 2004-02-25 23:58:00 So it is... I just installed 1.2, and its there under Recommended Misc. Protections.

1.3 doesnt appear to have that (Not since Beta 4 at least :-().

I'll have a go reverting back to 1.2 on all PC's and then putting the latest Beta back on (Its well worth grabbing Beta6, its brilliant :-)).

Cheers

218219 2004-02-26 00:08:00 Actually put you a bit wrong there. In 1.2 it's choose the 'advanced' section then it's Tools/Browser Pages. :8} mark c (247)
218220 2004-02-26 00:08:00 Well.. I found it :p

I went "Hunting" for it in 1.3 Beta 6 (Translates to looking in the right place ;-)) and found it.

Its in Advanced Mode under Tools -->> IE Tweaks.

Why didnt I think of that before ;-)

Thanks Mark

218223 2004-02-26 00:45:00 A little freeware program that locks down homepages is StartPage Guard available from various places including here (www.downlinx.com). Susan B (19)
