No worries about getting in my hair Eddie, I would like to know the outcome and am keeping my fingers crossed that it is a positive one for you . :-)

It really is a mystery why you are having problems when your mates aren't but with computers there are so many variables with individual software and hardware configurations that it is difficult to compare your system with theirs .

If it were me I would be taking the bull by the horns and backing up my data, reformating the hard drive and reinstalling Windows and all my programs to start again with a nice clean system but that is quite a big job and not one you might wish to take .

Anyway, though I cannot offer any more advice it would be good to know how you get on with Eudora should you try that .

Good luck . :-)

218428 2004-02-28 23:20:00 By the way, I use AVG and am very happy with it. It picks up viruses coming in through emails and has spotted a few in programs/.exe files so it is doing its job. I have also done online scans with other anti-virus companies which have not detected any slipping through so I have complete confidence in AVG. :-) Susan B (19)
218429 2004-02-29 01:32:00 OK... Fair enough... Just my thoughts it were. Just me aware that Norton will become a proxy server for the Email.

As I said, "I can be wrong and I haven't tried the chess program.."

I'm off to download the "mygame-chees" and try it.

I love chess. When I get spare time I play.

Hope you get your problem fixed.

218430 2004-02-29 07:43:00 Hi Elephant -
Thanks to all who have tried

that comment and tied in with Susan B 's will have me go back through Nortons- and reassess the settings - I would be a fool to have the obvious staring at me.

Yes, this chess is a lot of fun - retired I may be, but to keep my brain active required me to learn how to drive a computer, and play chess- I have had 36 games going at once-I used to be very much better than I am at the moment but I don't mind losing as long as I play well
There is a cartoon like game also "postcard chess"- but that has to be done while online whereas this version does not

If you want to I would be happy to play against you _ I have never met Antmannz but for nearly 2 years I have enjoyed the challenge with him ( and he is good)- and I got him from F1 in a similar fashion as above

chibnall@xtra.co.nz- if you care to - and pull out at any time- just let me know if you do - the internet /email often quadriplicate the moves, --- or loses them for a week or so, whereopon they appear out of the blue
