| 218241 | 2004-02-26 00:57:00 | I hope no-ones done this before... at least I haven't found it on the search function on the site. Anyway, my dream is (once I have much backing from my being rich (I have a few rich dad / poor dad books)) to make one superior O/S. Using ideas from previous operating systems and desktop enhancing programs. WHO WILL HELP? Anyways, I'll start: +desktop interface using features from desktop x, talisman, and objectdock. +API using features from objectbar, windowsblinds, windows, MAC OS X and linux +File System compatible with NTFS, FAT, WinFS, Linux and Mac File Systems +NO SPYWARE/TRACKWARE: I don't care if you pirate my software or whether you use ms office or open office +Only works if TCPA is disabled on the motherboard +Fully customizable API, Logons, Bootscreens and easy to use +Loads GFX drivers before bootscreen loads so 48bit colour bootscreen with %computername etc able to be used +COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS/MAC/LINUX PROGRAMS This could be the 31337 h4xx0r OS cos in the future mac and (maybe) linux will probably follow windows with TCPA type protection. Imagine this: PIRACY IS BACK! -buy/copy L33T@OS today! Open Source released 2 months after boxed program. I realise it will take a shitload 'o code but hey, even if I don't make money, I'll call it a donation. (of course the developers will be payed) Remember. not much is impossible..... |

Because mac programs are programmed for mac processors. Why dont we just make a linux distro? |

| 218246 | 2004-02-26 08:25:00 | If TCPA is able to be implemented by Open-Source peoples, then its essentially Useless! It'd be a Windows Only restriction IMO! |

| 218247 | 2004-02-26 08:26:00 | apart from some "bill" from the great USA that is in front of the congress that states ( my interpretation ) that any tech savy that builds, distributes or modifys any non-compliant palladium/TCPA device or OS is subject to jail/fines etc... Geoff Palmer has ( and wrote/published thanks pcw ) some insights into just TCPA or as I know Pallidium and what it means to the average unformed user. If you want to make an OS? by all means, you're against more than what you think will sell. :) |

| 218248 | 2004-02-26 09:26:00 | >Linux is fully custimisable Sure fully, but not nicely. I see a lot of sharp edges on linux. And is it easy. Sure. You just have to recompile an rpm and customize it using bash! How much simpler can it get? :-P >Linux can do all ( i think) >Linux has not spyware >Linux again >Linux? The idea is to combine the best features of all OS's/API/Desktops... And I've never seen a linux bootscreen. They're 31337 machines so they use code. And who can be ph*cked configuring wine? Not me! Not average Joe consumer! >mac programs are programmed for mac processors >>not much is impossible Linux and Windows work on x86. Mac can't. Convert Darwin (open source mac) or use the features that mac progs has (especially the finder). What? Plagarism you say? Espionage? Microsoft built their empire on that stuff! :D As for TCPA... it's deliberately hard to understand so people don't understand and therefore make no fuss. I'm doing a speech on TCPA for my course so i will upload the "source code" (;-)) and the mp3. |

You just > have to recompile an rpm and customize it using bash! > How much simpler can it get? :-P Not quite. How much simpler can it get than this: Boot from CD Select TimeZone Select Installation type (Complete System, Unpartitioned space Dual-boot, or I forget the 3rd option). Play Tetris for 25 mins Reboot and you have a beautiful desktop that looks similar to this: sal.neoburn.net Taken from a Freshly Installed Ark Linux My family dont know Jack about Bash scripting, nor do I see sharp edges?! > > Linux can do all ( i think) > > Linux has not spyware > > Linux again > > Linux? > The idea is to combine the best features of all > OS's/API/Desktops... > And I've never seen a linux bootscreen. They're > 31337 machines so they use code. Not really. We're l33t coz of other reasons. My family have a Boot screen (like what Whundoze does) except its of a Landscape - a Clifside next to the ocean actually.... Much prettier than the ugly Windows Logo :p > And who can be ph*cked configuring wine? If they want to run a CD, I've printed instructions that say: Click this Icon [pic of icon here] type: wine /mnt/cdrom/Setup.exe They havent had to yet coz it came with everything they need. > As for TCPA... it's deliberately hard to understand > so people don't understand and therefore make no > fuss. Sure the themes alright but the taskbar is square and opaque. It just looks too, linux. Ya gotta do a mix up of all OS's. It's sharp like OS/2. >Why not just change your Desktop Shell??? You mean like litestep or something. Eeerk! screw that. I'm leaving my shell alone. Average Joe User will want something easy to mod.:) Don't you want another OS that does what all other OS's do in one tidy package??:| oh and umm Michael Jackson... pffft! "You are not alone, I'm a paedophile too...":^O A teenager like you should be listening to blink 182 or at least led zep. ;) Why don't we change this thread to a What are the good things about existing OS's? |
