| 218768 | 2004-02-28 03:57:00 | Hi guys friend of mine has decided to jump on the Windows XP bandwagon... He's currently running Windows 2000 but before he goes over completely to XP he wants to dual boot it. What I want to know is if I install XP on his 2nd HDD will I automatically get a dual boot menu or will I have to install one. cheers chiefnz |

| 218770 | 2004-02-28 05:11:00 | You will end up with a (hidden) boot.ini file that looks something like this: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Win2k Novell LAN" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Win2k Local" /fastdetect This one is for two operating systems on the same drive so your drives and partitions will be different. However this should all happen automatically as Chill says. |
