2004-02-27 08:58:00 | Deipnosophist A skillful dinner conversationalist B-) Nothing topical grabbed me today, so its whimsy time again.:p Cheers Billy 8-{) :) Re Susan's circumspect comment about the "Friday ritual" in the string thread, WFTWE is coming up for its 100th episode soon and I was testing the water to see whether it had outstayed its welcome. It was only meant to last a few months, but it is a labour of love and I enjoy the challenge. Apart from the regular readers who occasionally comment, do any lurkers have an opinion yay or nay?

2004-02-27 09:16:00 | I've commented only occasionally, but am certainly a regular reader. If that makes me a lurker, I say: Keep up the good work. It's nice to know there'll be some Friday fun...

2004-02-27 11:51:00 | > Deipnosophist > > A skillful dinner conversationalist B-) > I would definitely have to tend toward extreme "Yay", the world is a little light on whimsy of late. And, unless it was an extremely dry dinner, it would be a very sophisticated Deipnosophist who could pronounce his calling after dinner. R2

2004-02-27 23:32:00 | Well as you know i am here lots when the time can be spared, That is when im not shoveling the crap to get out of the hole i have fallen into with my actions or words i seem to always repeating, i am not articulate enough to have foot constantly in the mouth. i have learnt not to touch the fan, i learn to take the heat, so as not to spread the afformentioned stuff from the fan and spare the entire population with the mess i seem to be constantly in. so i guess my Deinosophist aspirations are on hold till i learn a little more finese :D I enjoy your words of confusion BT, i see no harm in posting it, if some one objects, then they dont need to click on it to read it, its their choice. going back to my tunnel of biodegradeble products. :p beetle

2004-02-27 23:38:00 | Actually it would be very nice to have these words' etymology. 'Sophist' I know but 'deipno' I haven't a clue. Just a thought. I am a wordist myself. | mark c (247) | |
2004-02-27 23:42:00 | Well just had a look. Deipnon - greek for dinner Sophist - master at his craft, wise/able man. Currenyly degraded to 'sophistry'.
