218515 2004-02-27 04:20:00 Hi,

I need to find out my computer's hardware ID #. Anyone know how to discover it?
Zatnic (5316)
218516 2004-02-27 05:02:00 You may need to explain..

What exactly do you need, as there is no such thing as a "hardware ID"

There is a MAC Address of the network card, thats a unique ID

There will be a hash code generated by Windows XP for activation from hardware components, but its not going to be always unique.

218517 2004-02-27 05:27:00 I have a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel.

Pour an ice cold can of Export gold into a tall glass, position near the computer,As soon as the puter reaches towards the beer step foward and in a commanding voice announce "not without I.D.buddy",when this is produced quickly jot down the required info.

In answer to the question, the HWID should be displayed prominently in the program as you are trying to register it. It may be named something like hardware code: 876akh7-kop2411.

218520 2004-02-27 10:15:00 as far as id goes...

I recieved some tickets in the mail for driving an unregisted car,(460 dollars worth).

I went down the cop shop and kicked up a fuss, told them there was no way it was me in the car,i even went and found a jp and made a sworn decleration that it wasn't me.

The cops said that the driver of the car had produced my lisence,i said bull**it and told them my lisence was in my wallet, and had been for the last 15 years......They said the fact my lisence was on me proved i was the driver.....

218521 2004-02-27 10:48:00 So were you really the driver of the car??... and have they let you off yet? PoWa (203)
218522 2004-02-27 11:07:00 Well....i left out some details.

About 2 years ago i hit another car causing it some damage.Because i was pretty unimpressed and the owner of the car was even more unimpressed i just paid him 1500 bucks for the car(which was put in my name) and we went our seperate ways.

Being the owner of a newly damaged vechile i didnt want i parked it at an industial yard owned by a family member and forgot about it complety.

Untill the tickets turned up,seems someone had swipped the car and was busy breaking laws.

When i got the tickets in the mail i went down the cop shop to report it stolen, they said i couldnt because it had tickets owing on it where i was identified as the driver.

I refuted this, there was no way in hell i would be driving an unregisterd un-warrented and quite heavily damaged car anywhere.

They claim my lisence was produced by the driver and verified by the cop. This is when i found the jp and made the decleration.

Cops insisted i was just trying to avoid the fines,i paid the fines, went back to the cop shop, started trying to sort it out again. Seems the cop who made out the ticket just ticked the little box on the form that states lisence/photo id produced when it infact never was.

Amid all this nonsence a female cop came out asked me if i knew a person(cant repeat the name here) i said i had never heard of them, the cop said "the person" was a known crim and had been pulled up at least twice in my missing car.The cop promised me that she would sort it out quick smart and she would get someone to talk to me.

Next cop came out,Told me i was an *******,a trouble maker and i should go.

At which point i spat the dummy, big dumb corrupt cop tried to grab me over the counter, told em all to get **** and left extremly....uh....annoyed.

All that, and all i wanted to do was report the car stolen.

218523 2004-02-27 11:13:00 Short version.

No,i was not the driver of the car.

No,i was not let off,i paid the fines to avoid futher fees/possible repossion of gear.

I check the mail each day to see if i have more fines for a car i cant report stolen.

The cops are willing to lie to cover each others incompetincy...but hey,we all knew that.

218524 2004-02-27 13:45:00 A most refreshing thread. However, I am concerned that
the weasel (after tail pinning) may now be a fugitive with
a hardware code and no software COA. Bad start for a
young and impressionable creature that was only trying
to help
