218939 2004-02-29 02:57:00 Ok so i have a motherboard, and it's great, new, etc. It's the asus a7v600. I want to buy the Gigabye ga-7nnxp, which is better in EVERY WAY EXCEPT that it has one less pci slot. Sure, this is pathetic, but can you convince me that i dont need that extra pci slot, and that buying the new motherboard (with the 5 pci slots and not 6) will be a wise decision?

PLEASE?

218941 2004-02-29 03:47:00 Only you know how many PCI slots you need ?:| Terry Porritt (14)
218942 2004-02-29 03:59:00 You will find that most new motherboards tend to have a lot of onboard features that would of once taken up a PCI slot. Go for the motherboard that you really want - one less PCI slot will not make a difference. Jen C (20)

218946 2004-04-10 07:06:00 I'm considering a few with three. I don't need a single one :p Thus, I find that an excess of functions can cause more hassles.. my personal opinion though...

:D All depends on how much you think and know you need...

Some Gigabyte boards have two system BIOS' on the motherboard, one is the main and the other is the back-up.

If you manage to corrupt the main BIOS, the back-up BIOS can take over and also this allows online updating (the @BIOS utility) as it flashes the second BIOS and boots from that on restart.

Peace of Mind :)

Dual Bios... in Gigabyte motherboards, there is a back up bios... some viruses (virii??) can damage the motherboard bios... having 2 means you can boot into the second one and restore the original.

I think that's how it works... not sure on the exact detail!
