219125 2004-03-01 20:52:00 I'm not sure if RealOne takes care of the 3 times transfer. I haven't transfered that much yet so I wouldn't really know. AZREAL (1795)

I checked the tax at a nz online website and it says that the duty charge is fee however

The tax is 12.5%.
Product price+ postage price + insurance cost + 12.5% of all that = the total price

They say that. They send u a letter asking the tax price .u have to go to the custom office and pay the tax.
I think that when u buy things online before the sender sends u the product.Tell them to write the price of the product cheaper than the product itself.
My dad sends me stuff overseas and on the surface of the parcel.U have to write the cost of the product.
I think that you should tell the seller to write the price about hundred bucks than the real price Because they will charge the tax a lot cheaper

I think this works.Never tried it.Trying it soon.lol
Im buying a new minidiscman over in hk at ebay. The cost is 350 nz dollars.including postage insurance etc.
So i think i might tell him to write like 300 dollars on the surface on the parcel package so that nz will charge me less tax.!!!
HMM...!might work

take a look here for the custom charges tax etc

No it doesn't. and no you couldnt drag Mp3's to it, because its not technically an Mp3 player. Its an Atrac3 player.

Interesting you would try to avoid tax at customs on the $50 difference between the sale price and what price you would want displayed on the parcel. The saving of having that $50 difference, is around $7, compared to the costs of thousands if you get court.

Correct.

Do you think the customs people are stupid?? They have a very good idea of what things cost and if they are uncertain they can soon find out just as quickly as you can - via the internet. ;-)

Good luck to you. But be prepared to pay the tax if they decide to charge you it otherwise you may get a rather expensive surprise. In more ways than one. ;-)

Moral: ALWAYS factor in the tax charges when buying things from overseas and if you don't get charged the tax consider it a nice little bonus.

219131 2004-03-02 18:04:00 Personally, CD/MP3 players are far superior to the rest.

Obviously your normal CDs are going to work, but now with roughly 700MB of space, you can place several ALBUMS onto it. I managed to get about eight Bowie albums onto there.
Also, if you use rewritable CDs, you can continuously change your playlist.

A friend who recently used an MD player was quite unhappy because he had to record the songs on... or something to that effect. Waited five or so hours to actually get the lot on. And how much do those CDs cost?

As for the flash drives, again, low capacity. Though if it's mobility you're after, then sure, go for it.

I think that in the long run, CD/MP3 players are going to be the ones that prevail.
