I have a Fujitsu 40Gb Hard Drive. Yesterday the computer booted up fine. I went out for a couple of hours and came home to find the cursor flashing on the screen. I reset the computer and now it tells me that it cant find the drive. I have tried detecting it in another computer but same result. I suspect that the controller card on the drive has gone. I have not had any problems with the drive until now. I have tried setting the settings manually but to no avail. |

If you have tried it in another computer, and the BIOS will not detect it , then yes, it has failed. And another yes, that it is most likely the controller electronics that have failed. |
