1335593 2013-04-05 00:20:00 What is the advantage of SSD as primary drive.

I mean, should I get one at once?

1335594 2013-04-05 00:30:00 Speed. Oh so much speed.

Not much else.

1335595 2013-04-05 00:38:00 Yeah, lots of speed!

Provided your system has enough RAM to open the applications happily, a SSD is a worthwhile investment IMO!

1335596 2013-04-05 00:46:00 Dunno about "at once" but if you're looking to improve some performance they are certainly worth the investment.

Not all SSD's are made equal though, there are quite a few that will offer performance that only matches current HDD's (in terms of speed - the seek times will always be better). These drives are good for replacing a HDD where speed isn't a Major issue. A lot of ultrabook's use them. Mostly for laptops where impact sensitivity and power consumption are big features.

In a desktop you could either get a nice 120/256 GB SSD or one of the hybrids. Personally I'd get a slightly bigger SSD for the OS + Programs/Games, getting a 64GB SSD and installing everything else on a HDD is a waste of time and money IMO, yeah the OS will load like a beast but doing anything else on it is gonna be slow.

Short story long - Get an SSD if you're looking for a performance boost, but get one big enough to install the big applications you like to use as well as windows.
