1335469 2013-04-04 09:43:00 I want/need a Live CD (en.wikipedia.org) to get through some troubleshooting on a friend's PC. Its running Win 7 Home Premium.

ps - I've never used one before.

1335470 2013-04-04 11:35:00 What's wrong with it? If you just want a GUI to copy off files, grab Ubuntu or Mint.

If you want to repartition a HDD, grab GParted LiveCD: gparted.sourceforge.net

If you want to do some diagnosis or advanced maintenance like resetting the windows admin password, and aren't afraid to get down and dirty with the command line, then sysrescuecd is your friend: www.sysresccd.org

1335471 2013-04-04 18:44:00 If you want quick booting from RAM then puppy, both Mint and Ubuntu contain Gparted Puppy contains similar. They all look similar to Windows when booted and have a reasonable GUI gary67 (56)
