2013-04-03 23:02:00 | I disagree with the whole idea of the sell-off but raising the Director fees is necessary for the reasons stated in that argument. While I would rather see the status quo its clear that this is going to happen and part of that happening is the fees. I don't like it but its a symptom of the real cause not a cause in itself.

2013-04-03 23:11:00 | OP That is not corruption But I don't like to see fat cat directors getting huge pay rises either. But its just bringing them into line wit the private sector And in the private sector shareholders have to approve the directors fee pool!

2013-04-03 23:49:00 | If 'corruption' is 'legalised', it becomes normal practice. :D It depends on how (from which angle) you look at it. If you wear a pair of red-tinted glasses, everything you see will be red.

2013-04-03 23:56:00 | But wait, didnt they sign up knowing full well what the fees were. I bet they wouldnt have been un-replaceable , I bet they wouldnt have quit if the fees were left as is. Perhaps they just couldnt get the 'private sector' fees as they just couldnt get themselves those private sector positions Look at recent NZ goings on.. huuuge directors & mangers fees/salaries doesnt seem to translate to competence in any way. Perhaps offering lower than market fees & salaries we may get some competence: those keen to really prove themselves so they can eventaully move up to the big money fees from other companies

2013-04-04 02:14:00 | The Oxford Dictionary defines corruption: "Definition of corruption noun [mass noun] 1 dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery:" If those on the the minimum wage are only intitled to .25c per hour increase then there can be NO justification for a 73% pay rise for those who produce SFA.I am of an age when the 'AVERAGE" New Zealander could expect a fair shake and expect to be treated with dignity and a sense of FAIRNESS. Today I believe that is no longer the case and what is presented as 'Normal" is a CORRUPTION of what being a NEW ZEALANDER was really about.

2013-04-04 02:56:00 | My view is, if you don't vote, don't complain. I agree in principle, but there's no one worth voting for which makes it a little less true. Not voting could be seen as a protest on the calibre of our political parties. If one party does something unpopular that loses them the next election does the new party then reverse the changes? No they find excuses why we are now stuck with them and smile to themselves knowing they don't have to take the blame. It seems they just take turns screwing up different things. If I don't care which party is in power and just carry on with my life things really don't change that much as governments come and go. Honestly though, I think I should vote and I make an effort now and again to try and understand the issues and make an informed decision. Then a politician starts speaking and my eyes glaze over and my attention wanders. How is it they never say anything with a clear meaning or give a straight answer to a question.
