1335340	2013-04-03 21:23:00	I meant to post something like this a year ago, but never got round to it. If I were the Taliban I would scale back attacks on the western troops and Afghan targets. That way the west would withdraw quicker. Then it would be quite easy to make a come back and attack the Afghan army and police who would probably crumble quite quickly. Afghan politics are a basket case and they have been since the middle ages. The only thing that may save Afghanistan from the Taliban is the fact that they have been exposed to western technology and products and education (esp girls) and the average Afghani might not want to go back to the middle ages Taliban style. But there are a lot of villagers in the countryside that may like that life style.	Digby (677)

1335348	2013-04-05 01:27:00	If I was the Taliban commander I would cease attacks on the foreign forces as they withdraw and build up my forces to attack the Afgan government forces once the last foreigner leaves. Would take less than a year to defeat the Afghan national army although there are some Northern provinces that I would leave alone as they are not ethnic Pashtuns there as the Taliban are. To take all the Northern bits would bog the Taliban down in a slogging war. Most importantly for the Taliban learn from past mistakes dont repeat them.	prefect (6291)
