2013-04-03 02:42:00 | Renaming - cui prodest? The I would expect you all to say Roma, Firenze, Italia, parmigiano reggiano, pecorino, spaghetti bolognese, etc., instead of spag bol, rome, florence... Hey, is it hard to pronounce? Tough!:banana

2013-04-03 02:44:00 | At least you CAN pronounce it - only a little 'hard' to do so, where as, I can't pronounce it at all! After living in this land for 20+ years, I can't even count up to 3 (yes, it's THREE) in Maori. Maybe, I don't really bother to learn! Or, maybe there isn't any incentive to learn that language! :D Heh - I can't even count up to one :p edit - that's one in Maori. I can count up to one in English ;)

2013-04-03 04:10:00 | Whilst we are all having a bit of fun with the idiocy of the suggestion we shouldn’t loose sight of the fact that this is a Government initiative and they even changed the law in 2012 to accommodate the nonsense. Quote from article: . “The NZGB Act was amended in December 2012, and now provides for alternative naming”. And guess who will be paying for the nonsense. Yep, you and me again. To prove, would you say, yes I.

2013-04-03 05:25:00 | How about we call them....wait for it "North Island" for the top one and "South Island" for the bottom one??Big problem there. Apparently the Earth is overdue for flipping the magnetic poles around. When this happens the tourists will get confused as North will be South and South North! | Jen (38) | |

2013-04-03 07:10:00 | 100's or 1000's of NZ's mention - if sometimes gramatically incorrectly (e.g. waka rather than "whaka") a maori name daily, for regions, and certainly for Auckland suburbs, - Remuera, Pakuranga, Takapuna, Papatoetoe, Manurewa, etc. Some Maori place names over the years have evolved to a abbreviated daily form of slang - Rema's, Old Pap, Rewa, etc. Possibly happen to lengthy - if ever adopted Maori names for treasured NI/SI. If any islands or territories I get confused with and their accompanying regions or countries is the UK - or is it the British Isles - or Great Britian - or whatever they supposed to be...
