1335134	2013-04-03 18:24:00	yes Bozo's quote was very interesting. I take the point about the South not really wanting to re-unite with the North. Look what happened when East Germany was reunited with West Germany, they say it was a huge burden on West Germany and the economies are still not balanced. And yes we should not forget that they are one people and may have relations in the other half. (are they allowed to write to each other?) But it is their leaders who run things. Lastly I would not discount the North's army. It is very large and they say it has lots of long range artillery. And Seoul is not very far away from the border. And don't forget that their main tactics in the last war were just to throw huge numbers of men int each attack regardless of casualties. And as also noted the South's leadership seems fairly relaxed as does its army and the people in the streets of Seoul.	Digby (677)
1335135	2013-04-03 19:50:00	I very much doubt a confilct starting withing the Coreas would remain circumscript in their backyard long. Many countries of power (USA, Russia, China) have interest in this region, as well as reciprocal agreements with both countries. What amazes me is the world has been through two cruel world wars, we call ourselves modern and advanced and we still see this savagery around the world. We'll never change.	Sanco (683)

1335137	2013-04-03 21:11:00	Kim Jung-Un has just announced they are going to attack the US with "cutting edge" nuclear weapons! Whilst that seems impossible, it seems to me that North Korea has made aggressive statements every day for the last seven days. It will have to stop one way or the other soon.	Digby (677)

1335140	2013-04-04 00:52:00	I just saw a worrying comment in a Chinese online newspaper which is known to reflect the views of the Communist Party. It said that they don't wish to see North Korea escalating the conflict because if it caused America to attack North Korea, then that would force China to respond under the "Sino-North Korean Mutual Aid and Cooperation Friendship Treaty" which they both signed in 1961.
