I understand that there is an equivalent area for civilian aircraft as well, but they would have a few thousand more flying hours up than the military birds. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 1335814 | 2013-04-07 22:15:00 | Well it might look like waste now but the planes were made because of a perceived threat from Warsaw Pact forces. The wastage days are gone planes now are very expensive per airframe, fewer built , more multi role and good for a 25 year life. As far as keeping old planes in service the Yanks have B52s that Grandfather father and son have flown in. I agree looking back it was a waste making so many of them but they do get recycled even if the energy used to build them is transferred to CO2 and lost. |

Compare to how much the US-or NZ- spends on.. say, shoes cars or Petfood . The future 'waste' will come to a screaming halt as US runs out of money to keep building new warplanes.Question is are they already at that point?
