1357865 2013-10-25 02:42:00 HELPPPPPP Ok any MAC users that actually know how to do this, help would be much Appreciated.

Heres the situation -- Got a MAC HDD out of a slightly seen better days Macbook. Got an external Drive as well, both are formatted in MAC system HSF.

I have managed to get all the data (roughly 50GB) from the MAC Drive and copied to a W7 Computer using HSFExtracer, can open and read the files fine in W7, mainly photos and word / excel / PDF documents.

Question:
How do you get the data back onto the external HDD, Windows of course wont see it let alone write to it, Ubuntu will see the drives fine But cant write to the external drive, as it comes up as read only

Options:

1.DONT have a MAC
2. Formatting the External Drive to FAT32 Hmmmmm --- unless I extract the data from that and format as FAT32 ?

Any workable suggestions :D

1357866 2013-10-25 03:36:00 Looks like you you could format the hdd to exfat, or use something like this (www.paragon-software.com). But its not free Speedy Gonzales (78)

1357869 2013-10-26 00:22:00 :clap Thanks for the links guys, both programs worked perfectly, plugged in the MAC drives and they opened like any Windows based external Drives, it was simply a matter of Copy/paste the data to the drive.

One thing I did find, the software didn't like one another -- If you had one installed, the other wouldn't install, throwing up a message saying they were not compatible and to remove.

1357870 2013-10-26 00:39:00 Sweet ! Some sites say HFS+ is better than Macdrive. I don't think Macdrive lets you copy thru explorer, but HFS+ does (I think it adds itself to the context menu)? Speedy Gonzales (78)

Both programs worked basically the same, all I needed to do was copy/paste the recovered data from Window 7 to the MAC formatted drive.

Installed the program (either one) plugged in the external drive - it opened up with the autoplay "(what do you want to do)" opened the folder, then copy / paste the complete folder.

When looking in Computer, with Paragons software the drive simply showed as another drive, when looking with MacDrive it was the same but it had an Apple Icon next to the drive.

Both worked, so alls good and a couple of options for future use :)
