| 1356969 | 2013-10-24 02:54:00 | I'm about to buy another notebook (shop.jbhifi.co.nz) for my g/f's work - it'll have Win 8 on it. Is there any compelling reason to upgrade it to 8.1? (I've almost never used Win 8 before) | Greg (193) | ||

(I've almost never used Win 8 before) W 8.1 is worth the upgrade. It has a few more "options" than W8. Some that come to mind is you can boot directly to the desktop once its selected, it doesn't put every single tile on the start page when installing a program, its easier to get to the "hidden" tiles where the program icons actually are, Its more "snappier" AND its free anyway, just to name a few. Best to do the upgrade before you load in lots of programs and other stuff. Did a laptop a few days ago, took around an hour. You have to do windows updates first in W8, then the upgrade option appears in the store. |
