It should be almost impoissible to miss its the HUGE title on the left when you open the store have a look at windows_store_81_update.jpg (regmedia.co.uk) If you cant get it, it appears the reason is your system may not fully upto date with the current updates from Microsoft windows-8/why-can-t-find-update-store (windows.microsoft.com) You need to run windows update manually. Easiest way -- go to the start screen, type Control Panel click it to open, go near the end of the panel and click on windows update, run a manual update. |

2013-10-18 21:08:00 | That's strange. It's fully updated. Just run the manual update again, there's only one optional update, that's ASmedia Technology USB controller which I belief has got nothing to do with Windows Update. I've checked your link, another reason is I'm not entitled to the update?????? This is the $20 promo copy of Win8 downloaded.

2013-10-18 21:19:00 | I went through the 'Store' -- there are 15 updates available but Update to 8.1 isn't there. Restarted PC a couple of times, re- open the Store many times, still no update tile.

2013-10-18 21:29:00 | Is this installed? (support.microsoft.com). If it isnt install then reboot if you have to. Then see if it appears | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2013-10-18 22:07:00 | Try this, some say it works THE ARTICLE (www.theverge.com)(Check what its offering it should be 8.1) if not then STOP -- Go to THIS SITE (windows.microsoft.com) - go to Number 3 theres a link there or should be saying Download Windows 8.1 FROM THE STORE. Click that and the store should open with a purple download button top left. SOME ADVICE: If you have any other antivirus installed apart from the default one that comes with W8 OR Nod32 V7 then uninstall it first. 99% of all antiviruses wont work in W8.1 prior to it coming out. If your antivirus is not compatible it will cause crashes, lockups or wont even allow the PC to start fully. (Already had a call this morning with a person having that problem) They "think" they had avast. May also pay to back up your PC / Data before upgrading in case it turns pear shaped. I did mine took about 15 minutes to do a full image - better safe then sorry.

2013-10-18 22:32:00 | Thanks wainuitech for your link and your advice re before updating. I don't plan to update it now as I have some important tasks to do before I jump to the world of unknown. Anyway, I have my system image created already. I just want to explore this at the moment. When I clicked the update link at the bottom, it brings up the update page says, I have Windows 8 Pro with Media Centre which means it's detecting correctly. Will do it when I am ready - hope it goes through smoothly -- hate to spend hours just to put it right -- as my sytem is working OK now. Thanks again wainuitech and speedy. :)
