| 1335315 | 2013-04-03 18:46:00 | Whilst having a cuppa and reading the news on Stuff this morning I came across an article that I found amusing, It is this one HERE (www.stuff.co.nz) that advises of the Court Case today for the accused in the Jessie Ryder assault case. Whilst it starts badly by advising the Ryder family were anxious over the hearing it turns out that it is the accused family that are anxious. That aside we get to: "[edited], 37, and [edited], 20, will appear in the Christchurch District Court at the Nga Hau e Wha Marae today over the incident in Merivale last Thursday." So the Christchurch District Court is now on a Marae. Well now, this raises all sorts of hilarious situations when one considers Marae Protocol v Court Protocol. For instance, do the accused receive a traditional Welcome onto the Marae? Is there a Kapa Haka party present? Do they all get to Hongi? Is there a fine selection of shoes at the door? When the Court adjourns for lunch do they all stand around a Hangi out the back and toss down a few beers? And on it goes, you add your bit. If only Billy T James was still alive he’d have a field day with this one. |

In the Matter of the 2 Gent... actually they don't deserve that title... dirt bags, a) I'm glad they haven't been granted name suppression as the news on the radio this morning mentioned they may get b) I hope they get what's coming to them. This could have happened to any Tom, Dick (Chill? :P Jokes) or Harry, it is unfortunate to be a well known NZ Cricketer. But there is a HUGE difference between a brawl outside a nightclub/bar and putting someone in hospital fighting for their life, that is down right discusting! Time for the legal system to step up! :2cents: BTW Cic love the sig! |
