219485 2004-03-02 05:55:00 Have you plugged the speakers into the new card? b1naryb0y (3)

219487 2004-03-02 07:15:00 Yes the speakers are plugged in and yes the computer is configured to use the new sound card and the game port works? Rosscoe (3617)
219488 2004-03-02 07:30:00 no conflicts in Device Manager...?
sound cards and modems sometimes conflict...

when you say you disabled the on-board sound... did you disable it in the cmos (bios)...?

219489 2004-03-02 07:37:00 No driver problems...

I just installed a forte media sound card... day b4 yesterday... as my post beep was coming full volume out of my on-board sound... no way to stop it... just a bug i guess... but anyway... i had real problems fining a driver... all the supossed drivers that i downloaded... were just the control panal applet... with out the actual driver... but found the right one...

Didn't you on-board sound have a game port... my two have...(boards that is...)

you shouldn't have to disable it in the bios... just set it to auto...
disable might just disable the whole lot... probably not... but just maybe...
