219344 2004-03-01 09:10:00 How far can wireless networking be made to go (easily) I have to connect two parts of our business temporarily because of renovations and the buildings are about 150meters apart. We currently have a 7 computer 100MPS cat 5 network.
How far can 802 or whichever standard be made to go easily...I read of someone getting it to cover 20km with special antennae and boosters?

219345 2004-03-01 10:15:00 You will neeed high gain antennae to get 150m with any sort of speed.

30 - 40 m is about it here for a normal airpoint to PCMCIA card, even then speed is down to 20% of normal.

219346 2005-07-05 22:37:00 Well how much do you want to spend?

I have got 2 desktop PC's and decided that rather then spend on hard wiring the house. 4months ago i spent $180 bought 2 bluetooth dongles and set up a wireless networking. the range is upto 100mtrs and works beautifully. i was thinking of selling the two dongles as i now no longer need it coz circumstances have changed. if you want to buy it off m i can sell it to you for $120 and i will take care of the postage if needed.
