219648 2004-03-02 19:27:00 It is normal, but I hate it. I arrange all my icons nicely, and then I quite often have to change screen resolution, and all my desktop gets mucked up.

Is there something to stop this? To fix the icons in place, or maybe save the layout for each resolution, so I can just load it back?

Thanks

Win 98 has that feature doesn't it? (Can't check my Win 98 PC at the mo, it isn't on). Besides, we don't know what OS mejobloggs is running either, do we? ;-)

219655 2004-03-03 00:23:00 This jumbling of icons tends to happen when you have too many icons filling the screen at your normal working resolution. Then when you reduce resolution they have nowhere to go and they get jumbled and go off screen etc, and stay jumbled when you go back to the higher resolution.

The best way is to keep the number of icons down to a sensible quantity, and use the auto arrange option, you can also vary the spacing of the icons so that they all stay on screen when you change resolution

219656 2004-03-03 03:45:00 I do not have that much, it just re arranges because the stuff on the far right has to move left to fit on a lower res. But it doesnt just move left, it goes all over the place, but it can all fit on, with spare room too.

The lock icons doesnt work too great either, still muddles it all up.

219657 2004-03-03 03:56:00 Haven't used it myself, but this (www.majorgeeks.com) looks like what you want, with extra bells and whistles too. And you can't get it cheaper :D Pheonix (280)
