| 219721 | 2004-03-02 22:30:00 | Every now and again, the "Total number of pages" field in the footer of my Word documents fails to work properly when I print. I.e. my standard footer includes the wording and numbering fields, "Page x of xx" I always set this up the same way, and in fact often copy the whole footer setup from one similar document to another. It always looks correct when I check, both in Print View and in Preview. Sometimes however, when I actually print the document out the page numbering has changed to "Page x of x" e.g. Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2, and so on Once this fault has manifested itself in a particular document (file), it will always occur when printing that document. However the problem does not occur with every document. If it happens with a particular document, my only remedy at present is to enter the correct total pages number manually, e.g. "Page x of 10", rather than use the automatic total page count field. Can anyone throw any light on the possible reasons for the error and offer a solution? |
