220923 2004-03-07 13:33:00 in the IE6 toobar there is a windows messenger icon. is there a way i can change that icon and get it to start msn messenger 6.1 instead? Blue_face (1148)
220924 2004-03-07 13:43:00 Right Click the Toolbar --> Customize

or alternatively

View --> Toolbars --> Customize

You should be able to remove the Windows Mesenger one and add the Messenger one easily in there.

220925 2004-03-07 13:54:00 already look at that before i posted the post. I can remove windows messenger easily, but i cant add msn messenger because i dont know how to add msn messenger to the available toolbar button list. I think it needs to be done in registry.

running winxp pro by the way..

220926 2004-03-07 21:55:00 I'm running XP also, and in the list of available icons to add to the toolbar I have one called Messenger.

It was just there...

220927 2004-03-07 22:37:00 Yes but now i want to change that to msn messenger 6.1. Its a different program. Blue_face (1148)
220928 2004-03-07 22:58:00 I'm quite aware it's a different program, the one I have is for MSN Messenger 6.1

Perhaps try uninstalling Windows Messenger.

220929 2004-03-07 23:46:00 Hi

I would like to do what Blue_face is trying to do also. I have Windows messenger in my list of programs, but not in my Add/Remove programs. Whats the safest way to remove Windows messenger, just highlight in the list of programs and then delete??
Running XP home

No, once you are in Add/Remove programs click on the windows set-up tab then have a look throw each one in till you find windows messenger

Note: I don’t have xp so I can’t tell you, which sub section to have a look in for it.

Hope this sort of helps

I was pretty sure there was an option to remove it somewhere but I can't find it either. Anyway, unless someone else can remember it there's a FAQ (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) on removing Windows Messenger. Takes quite a while to load that thread though. ;-)
