220799 2004-03-07 05:15:00 I was attempting to network my XP box with a win 98 box and thought I would try and ping the win98 box etc etc, but when I went to load the Command Prompt from the accessories menu, it told me it could not find "file0000 . chk" which I assume is from Scandisk cleaning up .

Great, I though, but I can load the Command Prompt by going run->cmd (program not found) or run->command . com, which does run, only doesn't execute any entries (except cd, which I found odd) .

How can I get my command prompt back???

220800 2004-03-07 06:33:00 try start/programs/accessories/system tools and use system restore function to 'set the system back' to before the prob ? drcspy (146)
220801 2004-03-07 11:21:00 Sounds like your Dos support files are corrupted.

Go to c:\windows\repair
Copy file autoexec.nt and config.nt to c:\windows\system32
If this does not work, copy all the files in c:\windows\repair to
c:\windows\system32
