It could just be my imagination but I feel AVG really slows down the PC considerably, especially boot up time. I'm going back to Avast, even though the icon is annoying.	schmolze (5361)

Totally agree with you here about the slower boot-up time . I think I have an answer . . especially for the stuff I am running . I use (NO laughing!) MSN instead of Yahoo that was provided by my ISP (Verizon), and I want AVG to scan my e-mails . . so when I sign onto Windows, I have MSN e-mail start at the same time and then AVG jumps in and scans all the new e's . So I feel that accounts for the longer (and safer) boot time . 220576	2006-01-01 00:54:00	AVG scans e-mail, Avast doesn't. Avast is slightly better at picking up trojans than AVG, I have heard, due to Avast using the Kaspersky "engine". Could you use both??? To get all the functions of both? no . useing 2 antivirus progs at the same time can cause problems including neither of them working . you can have both installed and one running, just not both running at the same time . also it would be best to stick with one email scanning, having two email scanning INSTALLED can also be problematic . as far as one picking up nastys better than the other . . . . . the programs change so often and so fast that the results are meaning less . whats good today can be bad tomorrow .	tweak'e (69)
220578	2006-12-20 20:17:00	Hi there, I have used both Avast and AVG, I have used Norton, McAfee and more. I have used even more firewalls and I finally think I've worked out what's good and what's not. Avast and AVG are pretty much the same, In my opinion AVG is that little bit better because for me, it provides incredibly fast updates (normally takes about 10 seconds) and provides prefect protection against viruses if updated every day. Each day i receive about 10 viruses (yes I know...) and there is never a problem, simply heal the infected viruses and move on. Avast for me provided slow updates, and gave me worse protection against viruses as I got infected by one which AVG always was able to block. I have also used Norton antivirus and Norton Secrutiy Suite, in my opinion Norton is the virus! it takes a tremendous load of space and RAM memory slowing down even my PC which has 580gb space and 1048mb RAM, and I found that Norton isn't even able to delete viruses! Only quarantine them making Norton a real put off. In my opinion stick with AVG, add ZoneAlarm (which I belive is the current best in the world at the moment) together with AVG, simply update them when they notify you, and I'd say you're a 100% secure. 220579	2006-12-20 23:49:00	Although I am still on 56k dial up I use AVG because it is FREE and seems to work pretty well, I also use Adaware and Spybot as well as Mozilla FireFox 2.0 which keeps a lot more crap of my browser than IE ever did. Although I am a Mac user I have Windows XP Home @ home:( Other wise I wouldn't have any worries at all:)	winmacguy (3367)
