220702 2004-03-07 01:50:00 So this is definitely Xtra only plans?? You can't use another ISP???

All jetstream plans are suspicious IMO. The only usage meter you can use is very innaccurate and probably records 1.3mb for every 1mb you download. Since there is no record of what you've downloaded, highly suspicious.

220703 2004-03-07 01:51:00 Yes thanks Cyberchuck - I had realised (from something posted by the godfather some time ago) that national is counted as well as international when you move off JS.

Stu - thanks for the wise words - would pay to wait a few days - my monthly charge period ends 17th of the month, so I can still change in a week's time and meet that deadline (apparently they need at least 3 clear days to make the change).

You can (should be able to) get these new plans with any of the ISPS, not just Xtra,

One day soon, but not necessarily immediately .

Telecom will be "wholesaling" the ADSL service for other ISPs to market, Xtra is first with the combined product I suspect (not surprising sine they are owned by Telecom . . . )

Others should follow soon . Pricing will be of interest . . . not much profit left after wholesale costs are taken into account .

220707 2004-03-07 04:12:00 Me thinks i shall be contacting orcon very very soon.... metla (154)
220708 2004-03-07 04:17:00 wait,10 dollar isp fee... metla (154)
220709 2004-03-07 04:20:00 You'd be willing to join Orcon instead of Xtra for just 5 cents less?

1GB... Xtra $39.95... Orcon $39.90
3GB... Xtra $49.95... Orcon $49.90

Then if you're with Xtra, and pay 5 cent more, you can get unlimited access, instead of Orcon's 10GB. Pays to be with Xtra sometimes.... Orcon's support outside office hours is almost impossible.

melta: You'd be quite a lot on support calls outside office hours. How much is it to call AKL from your place?

220710 2004-03-07 04:22:00 Yep Orcon ISP charge is only $9.95 and the Telecom charge is $59.95 Total $69.90

The Telecom charege for Xtra starts at $69.95 plus Xtra's charge of $10 which adds up to $79.90

So Orcon is $10. cheaper, that is about as low as ANY ISP could possibly go I doubt you will find any other ISP going below that. But Orcons service is better so I'll stick with them ;-)
