221127 2004-03-12 07:28:00 Possibly the installation is corrupted or something along those lines. Try booting up the WinXP cd, and go through the install process. When it detects your current XP install try a repair.

Otherwise if still not fixed - make a new partition, and do a fresh install of XP. Then find the files in the old install and copy them across.

Do you have Win 98 on the same computer, dual booting?

If the answer to the above is Yes, can you not access your documents from Win 98? Is it possible to put your hard drive in another computer and getting the documents off that way, then dealing with your problem?

221129 2004-03-12 08:01:00 It does not sound like a password expiry to me. Do as PoWa suggests or try the Recovery Console. Have a look here (www.jsifaq.com) and MS KB (support.microsoft.com). If your not comfortable pocking around in the registry, don't, it could be fatal to the OS and/or data files.
