| 221072 | 2004-03-08 08:09:00 | I have this problem with XP. On startup it says the volume is dirty and needs to be... whatevered. Then it does chkdisk and goes through thousands (x-() of files with extensions *.wav and *.pbk... It says Recovering Orphan File to Directory blah blah blah, in that monotonous windows voice we all love (:'() Why is it doing this? How long will it take to finish? And how can I stop it? (registry hacking does not seem to work...) Cheers .ham |

| 221073 | 2004-03-08 08:12:00 | STOOOPID EMOTICONS!!! Could it be that I didn't format one of the partitions? Or that I didn't turn auto-recover back on after getting rid of ms blaster. (I think it was blaster) |

| 221075 | 2004-03-08 10:01:00 | ****, I hope it's not the hard drive... its out of warranty now (september [noel leemings]) Umm, but I managed to stop CHKDSK coming up: i used recovery console, changed the autochk.exe to autochk.exe.bak and then booted, it missed the file went strate into windows, and i took the thing telling it to do chkdisk out of the registry. Easy... let that be instruction to anyone who should have the same problem. Cheers. .ham |
