| 220976 | 2004-03-07 23:32:00 | I have a Modem that I can’t seem to Identify and therefore can’t find a driver. None of the drivers on the WIN98SE disk seem to be the correct ones and generic drivers I’ve tried don’t work. So here we go, this is what it looks like, you may need a good imagination. It is a PCI modem. It has line out and Mic in, as well as single telephone line connection. It has plug together plastic covers that cover ¾ of the PC Board on both sides. The chipsets (2) are Rockwell as follows. RLVDL56DPF/SP R6785-61 Rockwell 97 9913 B78417.2 Mexico & 11229-12 Rockwell 97 9910 B77872.4 Mexico Now, there’s heaps of numbers on the board but a search on google turned up zip. One that’s etched on is 050-518718-203 In paint we have FT33 and on a sticker 810-A49029-A30. So there we are, any suggestions? Is there a programme that can identify a modem without any drivers for it installed? Cheers Bob |

| 220981 | 2004-03-08 01:16:00 | Feeding "rlvdl56dpf/sp" to Google gets some hopeful looking links. Rockwell don't make modems, of course: their chips are used by various companies. But if you start at the top, you could well get to a driver which works. :D | Graham L (2) | ||

You know Graham the board is literally covered in numbers and I entered every one of them and never thought to enter the number on one of the chips! What a dunce! :8} I’ll try GF’s and if that doesn’t work it seems I have plenty to play with . :D |

| 220983 | 2004-03-08 01:45:00 | That's the only string I tried. ;-) For modems, look for things like 56, 336, V90 insdie strings on chips. The 4 digit numbers like 9913 are dates (13th week of 1999) The most useful is the FCC ID which according to US law has to be on the board. :D I once got the PDF manual for a Puretek modem from the FCC site -- part of the supporting documentation in their application for a FCC registration. |
