221610 2004-03-10 11:37:00 If the ethernet port is activated on my computer, file saving, copying etc becomes very slow. If the port is disabled or the Router switched off, things come back to normal.
This only happens on XP. Win98 does not do it.
Very annoying. ;)

221613 2004-03-11 09:52:00 I have tried the above suggestions, no change.

Settings are: DSE ADSL Router XH1149 on Jetstart.
Gateway: 192.168.1.2
IP: 192.168.1.3
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Slingshot DNS: 202.180.64.9 & 202.180.64.2
The only device selected is TC/IP
Works very well.
Same settings with Win98 (dual boot) has no effect on the performance.

Also OK in Linux Mandrake 9.1

This will happen if your network card get lumped on the same IRQ as your video card.

If you have a plug in network card, try swapng it to another PCI slot.

If you have an onboard network device you are out of luck unless your BIOS will allow you to asign an IRQ to the on board devices.

If you happen to live a charmed life you MAY be able to re-asign the IRQ for the network card in the device manager, but do not hold your breath.
