| 222399 | 2004-03-14 01:10:00 | I've got a new Linux system almost up and running, except I need a dialer for ppp. I've been using KDE for along time, and now that I'm using Gnome I've got no idea what the equivelent to KPPP is. I've found wvdial, but it stalls after 'pid of pppd'. Heres what it says: [root@localhost root]# wvdial --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.53 --> Warning: inherited section [Modem0] does not exist in wvdial.conf --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Modem initialized. --> Sending: ATDT087303030 --> Waiting for carrier. ATDT087303030 CONNECT 50666 --> Carrier detected. Waiting for prompt. login: --> Looks like a login prompt. --> Sending: ******* Password: --> Looks like a password prompt. --> Sending: (password) ~[7f]}#@!}!}!} }?}!}$}%j}"}&[7f][7f][7f][7f]}%}&}1I[08]o}'}"}(}"}1}$}%j}3}#} n!~ --> PPP negotiation detected. --> Starting pppd at Sun Mar 14 13:33:04 2004 --> pid of pppd: 3596 It stops at the point above. Cheers, Ben |

| 222400 | 2004-03-14 01:19:00 | Hasn't that worked? ;-) It's dialled, and logged in. Surely you can just start a browser now and be in business? However ... that means you would be on the Internet as root. Bad Idea. :-( |
