| 222010 | 2004-03-13 00:25:00 | Hi All, Am lost again and would appreciate your collective ideas for the following problem. I have a 2nd HDD-40G (has been OK for last 3 years or so) as a slave and has all the Photos etc on it (yet to back them up-oops). Due to a "fiddler" since left the country!!, I have had to full reset up this computer, but the problem is the 2nd HDD which is not being recognised. OS is XP prof. Pent 2 I would appreciate any assistance in the correcting of this problem Donald |

Is the hard drive not shown in the BIOS at all? If it is shown in BIOS go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management and see if your hard drive is listed in there. |

| 222012 | 2004-03-14 23:53:00 | Thanks Susan, well what happened I had to go back to the set date (XP recovery) and go thru all of what was missing etc. The HDD is seen on the bios but when one turns off the comp. and later restarts the 2nd HDD is not seen. I have done a grubby trick by removing the IDE cable starting up and then turning down then replacing the cable and starting up and this time the HDD is visible and operates OK. Yes I do at present leave the machine running. Have been thru the XP "device manager" and that process. I am ever "listening" for the odd tricks you all supply to us. Don |
