| 222819 | 2004-03-16 08:38:00 | one thing to remember is if spliting or compressing data if a cd is partly damaged you may lose all the data. winzip/winrar normally have recovery optoins, it means the files size will be bigger but you may be able to recover more data should the file get damaged. | tweak'e (174) | ||
| 222820 | 2004-03-16 09:20:00 | Thanks to all who replied. Unfortunatly all your advice came too late, at 7pm I headed off downstairs to transfer the data onto CDs. Used an installed program - Prassi Premo which gave me a graphical view of how much was being loaded onto CD, while I waited for the copying I carried out a few other tasks in the garage, coming back to the PC from time to time. Looked over the replies, havce downloaded File Splitter, will keep for future use, could have used it tonight, never mind, opertunity will come again. Thanks again John W in Mosgiel. |
