222613 2004-03-15 02:28:00 Can someone please help. I have a signature laptop (which is just over 2 years old and running XP)and recently 3 keys stopped working , they are _- {[ '". I haven't spilt anything on the key pad. I press the keys and nothing happens. Can someone please tell me what causes this and how to fix it.

Thank you.

222614 2004-03-15 05:01:00 Keys are addressed in "row" and "column" arrays.
Those keys form a "column" I would bet.
Wonder if the RH Shift and CTRL are also affected?

Thats indicative of a break in a PC track or mechanical problem on the PC board I would suspect. The circuit boards are up to 4 layers deep.

Hows your skills at microsurgery?

222615 2004-03-15 21:25:00 Thanks Godfather. Looks like it is a column, also the += not working either and you are right nor the shift key...but the ctrl is working. Looks like I'll need to take it in to get operated on. No skills in microsurgery, I'm liable to do more damage...haha.

Thanks for the info.
