223250 2004-03-17 08:55:00 At the moment Maryann & PJ are networked with A Sigma/XP & a Dell/98se computers. Is it possible for us both to be "Plugged" into the Sigma/XP, dual monitors, Keyboarsd & Mouse, & both use XP at the same time. Instead of two computers networked. Maybe using the hard drive partitioned, half each??? PJ Poppa John (284)

223252 2004-03-17 09:03:00 You wish to share the same hard drive at the same time, then no, that will not work - you will confuse the poor computer something chronic with different input signals (two sets of keyboards/mice) plus trying to access differenct parts of the hard drive.

Think of it this way, if you put an additional steering wheel and pedals in the car, then you both started the car up and tried to drive it at the same time and one goes right and the other left, you will get the same effect :D

I think that will be from Maryann since messing up her computer, that is a role you will assume (hand and foot) until a suitable time has passed. :p

223254 2004-03-17 09:48:00 PJ, there are only 3 things in life you should never share.

1. Your razor.
2. Your computer.
3. Your wife.

At least I am fairly certain about two of the three ...

Let me guess. I have never yet shared my razor or ( to my knowledge ) my wife.... :-)
So I am like you. Only FAIRLY certain!!

Makes note to spend less time at the computer.

Hmmm . . . . . . if there are only 3 things in life you should never share then I opt to swap my razor for my toothbrush, thanks! :O

You are welcome to my wife . . . . . . . :D

Suffice to say I would never want to borrow it . . . . :) :O

223258 2004-03-18 04:06:00 Mr Laura always says there are two things...

Yes, the wife is one of them. The other is his chainsaw.

Poppa, what you need to do that is a real multiuser timesharing operating system, like Linux . :D

You can't directly plug the second monitor and keyboard in, but another computer box also running Linux will do the job . (Or even a Windows box with VNC) . The window box is for flowers .

Of course, you could equally well run the two computers independently .

Which is what you are doing now with Windows . ]:)
