| 223155 | 2004-03-17 22:46:00 | Does windows actually start and there is a "windows-looking" box for name and password, or is it a password you have to enter before windows loads? If the latter, you may have to reset your BIOS. Probably the easiest way is to remove the battery for a few hours, unless you have motherboard details and others can suggest what jumpers on the board to short. J :D |

| 223156 | 2004-03-18 21:21:00 | Windows does load so it is not a bios password. I dont have the machine here so it is kind of hard to describe. Hitting enter gets windows loaded but they can only access some files and not delete some files etc. |

For example, if your username was 'John' then your password file would be 'c:\windows\john . pwl' To remove the password prompt start by finding the PWL file relating to your username and rename it to * . old (e . g . c:\windows\john . old) . You then need to open 'Control Panel -> Network' and check that the 'Primary Network Logon' is set to 'Windows Logon' . Now restart Windows and you'll be prompted for a password, leave the Password box empty then click OK . This will also eliminate the logon screen . |
