223019 2004-03-17 01:00:00 well.................IDE controllers are two things........one they are the actual plugs on the motherboard that the IDE cables plug into ......thats the big data cables that run from the harddrive and cdrom/rw etc and floppy......

and IDE controllers is also a reference to the software that windows loads to work them within its graphic user interface........

goto controlpanel/system/hardware/device manager and you can see them listed .............you can when in device manager right clik on these listed items and then chcek out their properties or remove em or.........

to reinstall them make sure you have your windows disk handy and your motherboard disk handy if you have it............then jsut remove em from device manager and when you restart windoze the sysetm will recognize them as new hardware and want to reinstall............

why you think you need to remove/reinstall them ?.........
