| 223360 | 2004-03-25 22:54:00 | Oops! Had that page open a bit too long and didn't see Phoenix's reply. :8} I will wait until you do what Phoenix has suggested first and see how you get on. |

| 223361 | 2004-03-26 21:28:00 | I for one, srm33, am very interested to see the outcome of all this. Did you try what Phoenix suggested? What happened? Come in srm33. |

| 223362 | 2004-03-27 17:30:00 | OK, followed Phoenix' directions, with the exception of Spybot- under tools there was no IE Tweeks so could not do that (I updated it first also). Also downloaded the Easycleaner and did all except Registry as wasnt sure I should delete all those files. Then back online and reappeared after approx 10 minutes, in the homepage! So, could be defined as "slightly frustrating" ! Here is the logfile from Hijack this again if that is any help. And thanks for the help so far. | 223363 | 2004-03-27 23:39:00 | Tricky little &*^%$!!! Ok remove through hijackthis, the following:- R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Startpagina = file:///C:/Program%20Files/QuickPage/Portal/portal.html O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{31ECCE7B-422F-4DB6-85E8-8CB991F8103D}: NameServer = 195.121.1.34 195.121.1.66 O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{31ECCE7B-422F-4DB6-85E8-8CB991F8103D}: NameServer = 195.121.1.34 195.121.1.66 And look under program files and see if there is a directory there called portal. Remove or rename it if there is. As for Spybot, do you have start > programs > spybot-search&destroy > spybot-search&destroy (advanced) ? |

| 223368 | 2004-03-28 01:54:00 | Thanks Susan, just triggered another of my brain cells :D Add to the list :- O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime Should nail it now. I would finish off with Spybot, then Easy Cleaner, followed by a restart. And please ensure restore is off until after the final restart. :) |
