223186	2004-03-17 19:51:00	Yes thats the one, my faulty recall :) Note down what is listed, as it makes it easier to loacte drivers if you do not have them. Then delete all those listed and restart.	Pheonix (280)

223189	2004-03-17 20:32:00	Yes Maryann, that is the right one to delete. What normally happens, is Windows keeps the file in it's directory. When you delete it and restart, it will go through the "found new hardware" routine. It will look in its directory and find the file it wants and load it. Sometimes the file goes missing or corrupt, and it is then that you would require your driver disk. If you don't have the drivers, the worst thing is that nothing changes...you still have 16 colours due to windows using it's default driver. But mostly, a removal of the device in "device manager" and forcing windows to re-find/load the driver seems to fix your symptoms.	Pheonix (280)

223192	2004-03-17 21:28:00	OK Houston, you are all clear for go. :) Just try the delete, restart first. Also, don't be disappointed if it is still 640x480 16 colours on startup. Just see if you can change it to a better setting. The correct drivers will allow you to, while the windows "basic" one will not.	Pheonix (280)
223193	2004-03-17 21:43:00	Full E Breakfast, Ha Ha . Ive' had a cup of tea, thats my lot . Seems to me I should not get involved here as M is doing OK . I do not recall getting A CD or booklet when the computer had a new motherboard . There is a CD in our collection called "VIA Chipset . Motherboard Utilities CD . VUCD Ver 2 . 32 . When booting in Safe Mode the screen has a different colour, sort of washed ort & fuzzy . When in "Normal" it is very similar . The colour & resolution in "Settings" is only "16bit" & lowest resolution . It will not stay in any higher reso' with only 16bit showing . SO . . . . . . If we delete the RAGE display we have nothing positive to load back in, other than the CD I have indicated . Pheonix . Ok just read your last post . Will try that next . I briefly "took over" the controls, as PJ was a bit "behind in the play" with right click into properties, etc . . . . did delete, and then allowed PJ to finish off - restart etc etc . IT WORKED, LADDY, IT WORKED . THANKYOU SO MUCH!! We can now do all the other mundane things like EAT, get the needed WOF . . . all that sort of stuff . Pity we can't send you a slice of apple pie!! I am going to tie a yellow ribbon on "98" and give it to PJ, bless him . :^O Thankyou to you and everyone, as usual . :D PJ is "off the hook" .
