222906 2004-03-16 07:34:00 I need to use a USB digital camera on a computer without a USB socket (not expandable). I have a USB - PS/2 adapter which allows me to plug a USB mouse into a PS/2 socket. I am wondering if it is possible, perhaps with some driver or utility, to use a USB device that is not a mouse (ie. the camera) with this adapter. It seems theoretically possible as the wires (GND, SND, RECV, +5V) map up perfectly. george12 (7)
222907 2004-03-16 08:00:00 NO!!

the adaptor is for mice only.

pluging a other USB device into it might damage the device or the computer.

Dont try it.

222910 2004-03-20 03:39:00 No PCI/ISA ports but it does have a free serial port. Could the camera work with that? george12 (7)

USB connectivity does require USB unfortunately.

You can get USB to Serial adapters but not the other way around. Serial is just too slow to accommodate USB speeds.

If its a laptop you may be able to get a PCMCIA to USB adapter.
What kind of computer is it, to not have any PCI slots?
