1358703 2013-11-04 04:47:00 Got one of the new Vodafone stations

www.vodafone.co.nz

Seems to go ok.

Got a multifunction printer connected to it by USB.
Can print to it wirelessly from almost anything.
Today I wanted to scan & email a document.
Um ????

Any ideas?

1358704 2013-11-04 04:55:00 You may need to download the scanner drivers before you can use it. I had to do that with my Canon printer when I got it (even though its not a wireless one) Webdevguy (17166)
1358705 2013-11-04 05:30:00 You still have to install drivers if the printer is wireless. On this canon you have to install the drivers before connecting the printer (like any other printer). Then you've got the option of using it wirelessly or with a cable. Once you select one, connect the printer, it installs the drivers. Then you set the wireless up. Obviously the printer and whatever you're going to print from needs wireless Speedy Gonzales (78)
1358706 2013-11-04 05:49:00 I have installed the appripiate scanner drivers.
This enabled me able to go into scan settings & add the scanner name & address.
It just comes up with :The connection has failed"

I have tried on an xp system & a win7.

As stated in my first post I can already print to this device.

1358707 2013-11-04 06:26:00 Not all scanners can scan over a LAN which is basically what you are doing. Printing is a different matter even though its all on the same unit.

If you notice on the Advertising it says "Share a printer" nothing about sharing a scanner.

Try this: on W7, click start, type in Windows fax Select Windows fax and scan from the options. When it opens select new Scan, see if it detects the scanner.

If not you can always try PaperScan-Free (www.softpedia.com) - That will sometimes allow you to scan over a LAN where the default windows software wont. Under "devices" you may have to play about with different options as the Default TWAIN drivers only work on some scanners.

1358708 2013-11-04 06:53:00 Thought it would turn out to be something like that.
Think I'll just plug it back into the xp system where it used to be.
Still got a laser printer connected to the wireless modem.
It does most of the work anyway.

Thanks for the help guys.
